| | I call the way I paint these figures on wood "alla prima impressions": to create an expressive impression of a nude model in one sitting. The term 'alla prima' is a direct painting process, done 'all at once.' While viewing the model I seek to capture the gesture using strokes of color shapes. Drawing from a model is a form of dance, captured; the body expresses itself by shape and gesture. I choose not to further develop these alla prima impressions to preserve the fresh spontaneity of the initial line and the joy of the intuitively selected colors.
