Salta, Argentina: Rivers and Mountains

The onslaught of water into the Salta, Argentina river beds is seasonal, but when it comes it rushes on loaded with sediments from the mountains that weather, constantly changing shape and shedding into the valleys and plateaus which they surround. This photographs captures a sediment island formed as the waters slowed down and deposited their sediment load from lack of speed to keep carrying them down the stream.
