| Glacier Perito Moreno, Lago Argentino, El Calafate, Patagonia, Argentina.
Perito Moreno Glacier in Argentina is one of only three Patagonia glaciers that is not actively retreating. The glacier periodically advances towards that shore of Argentine Lake, blocking it, and is then slowly worn through by the water of the lake until it forms a bridge from the glacier to the lake shore. The bridge then collapses in a show of falling ice blocks and great, resounding noise. In this photograph, you can see the remnants of the collapsed bridge floating in the water between the ice sheet and the trees.
